The California Highway Patrol (CHP), as a principal California law enforcement agency, is responsible for the safe, lawful and efficient use of the highway transportation system in the State of California. The Patrol is primarily responsible for all of the freeways and county roads in the State. The Morongo Basin Area, which covers the community of Joshua Tree, encompasses approximately 2360 square miles of hi-desert terrain in San Bernardino County.
The CHP stresses safety and courtesy when driving your motor vehicle.
Be Alert.

Wear your seatbelts.
Don't drink and drive.
Obey all laws, especially
the speed laws (because speed kills).
