Welcome to Friendly Hills Elementary School. Our school's motto, "Where Learning Lives," perfectly describes the traditions and long-term goals of our school. Learning is a process that involves many stakeholders. Over the last few years, Friendly Hills has successfully added to the list of stakeholders involved in the pocess of learning. >From the additions of seventh and eighth grade, to the challenges and opportunities afforded by the new educational climate, Friendly Hills is unquestionably a place where learning is a dynamic ongoing process. Change this year comes in the form of administration.

Ideally, this document won't be the first time we have been introduced. My name is Heath Papp. I join the wonderful team at Friendly Hills after a number of years with Palm Springs Unified School District. My administrative experiences vary from two summers of Academy principalship to Coordinating State and Federal Projects. As a classroom teacher, I have taught various grade levels from Kindergarten through graduate students at California Sate University, San Bernadino. I am eagerly anticipating the 2003-2004 school year. In developing my background knowledge about Friendly Hills, I have discovered a school rich with academic achievement with a socially nurturing and safe environment in addition to its outstanding level of parent and community involvement.

I am confident that the wealth of traditions that make Friendly Hills a place, "Where Learning Lives," will continue well into the future. I recognize and admire the achievements that are the essence of Friendly Hills. Together, we will continue to provide students with the most current methodology, research based instructional techniques, and the technological tools that will ensure that our students can meet and exceed the State of California's demanding performance standards. I look forward to meeting the parents and community members that are the stakeholders in the academic future at Friendly Hills.

Please, see this welcome as your invitation to become a part of the team that will lead Friendly Hills down its path of continued success.

Mr. Heath Papp,
Principal
