Parent / Teacher Conferences
- There will be two days scheduled during the year for parents to come in
and talk with their child's teacher. This year, those dates will be Monday, November 10, 2003 and Friday, April 23, 2004.
- The conferences will be to discuss your child's performance and you will
be given a report card at that time.
- A notice will be sent home with the student to schedule the exact time
of your conference. Parents or teachers may schedule additional time for
conferences, if necessary.
Grading System / Report Cards
- Kindergarten students will be given a Progress Report twice a year.
- Grades 1-8 will receive a Morongo Unified School District Report to
Parents four times per school year, at the end of each quarter.
- Sample forms are inclosed in the printed Student/Parent Handbook
- Any deficiency notices are sent home mid-quarter and identify any
problem subject areas or low achievement.
Weekly Envelopes
- The main source of communication between parents and the school is the
"Weekly Envelope" which is sent home with each student once a week. It
will contain newsletters, announcements, calendars, lunch menus,
homework assignments, progress reports and other communication your child's teacher needs to send home to you. Please anticipate this envelope and look through it thoroughly.
- Please review the contents of the Weekly Envelopes. There may be important
documents that require your signature. Most of your questions and concerns are addresses through this weekly communique.
- You will also receive a monthly newsletter from the principal along with
flyers to remind you of important dates and activities. You may want to post the calendar where you can access it regularly.
- Our web site is available at www.morongo.k12.ca.us/morfhe/index.html

Absences / Tardies / Sign Out
- If your child is absent from school, please call the school or send a
note upon your child's return explaining the reason for the absence.
- Attendance is very important, primarily because students miss so much when absent. Our school also loses funding on days
children are not in school, no matter what the reason is.
- If you wish to take your child home during the school day, you must come
into the office and sign him/her out. No child is released from school
in any other manner.
- Please be aware that excessive absences may cause your child not to
advance to the next grade. We are also mandated to report excessive
absences to social services, when requested. This includes excessive tardies or early
pick-ups.
- Tardies are counted against attendance at both the beginning and end of the school day.
- Tardies can only be excused with verification from doctor, therapist, dentist or orthodontist if the student was tardy for an appointment.
