The USA will always grieve
The clear September morning
When our country changed forever
Without a clue or warning
Explosions, fires, belching smoke
Billowing from two landmark towers
Marked the beginning of what's become
America's darkest hours
![]()
Two planes destroyed the World Trade Center
And as the giant structures fell
A third attacked the Pentagon
Plunging our nation into hell
Thousands missing in the dust and ash
Americans glued to TV screens
Commerce, flight and even crime
Froze as we took in each awful scene
Of rescue workers, firemen,
Police and engineers
Generals and politicians,
Blood donors and volunteers

Our nation's heart is broken
As together we mourn and grieve
Until anger overcomes the sadness
Aimed at those who murder and deceive
This horror brought us all together
And as we prepare to turn the page
The terrorists have nowhere to hide
As our grief hardens into rage
Their so-called Holy War is over
They'll pay for what they've done
For they've attacked the Red, White & Blue
And those colors NEVER run!!
